SFC Robert “Ed” Beal was born February 6, 1969. Ed had a difficult childhood and was later adopted by his grandparents. After his grandparents passed away, he had no place to go so he joined the U.S. Army. He fell in love with the Army and loved serving his country.
He served 18 years and made 4 deployments and was in the field for his 5th when he found out he had cancer. He is remembered as an extremely loving family man that enjoyed having fun, traveling, and telling corny jokes.
Ed passed away on June 10, 2014 after an 18-month battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Gena, and children. We were honored to meet Gena in 2018 at our Survivors of Heroes Retreat. She graciously returned to give back to fellow military widows as a Facilitator in 2019.
